Classical music lovers in the District can rejoice this week, as there is a full-fledged schedule of more performances than one could ever attend. Beginning on Friday, February 26th, famed Russian conductor Valery Gergiev and the Mariinsky Opera will be
performing at the Kennedy Center. Also on the 26th, the trio of violinist Christian Tetzlaff, cellist Tanja Tetzlaff, and pianist Lars Vogt will be
playing at the Wolf Trap. On Saturday the 27th, Polish pianist RafaĆ Blechacz will be making his DC
debut, and the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra will be
hosting a program of Mozart and Beethoven. In addition to these concerts, there will be many free performances in and around the District, including flutist Harold Jones and pianist Peter Vinograde at the
National Gallery of Art and the Altenberg Trio at the
Library of Congress.
